Who will President-elect Obama bring on as his Secretary of Intelligence Augmentation?

And no, I’ not talking about military intelligence.

Let me cite Robert Anton Wilson to explain:

…Intelligence Intensification is desirable, because there is not a single problem confronting humanity that is not either caused or considerably worsened by the prevailing stupidity (insensitivity) of the species…

If intelligence could be increased, obvious solutions could be found more quickly to the various Doomsday scenarios threatening us.

There is nothing rationally desirable that cannot be achieved sooner if rationality itself increases. This is virtually a tautology but we must consider the corollary:

Work to achieve Intelligence Intensification is work to achieve all our other sane and worthwhile goals.

An overall strategy of intelligence increase
Though widely expected to be the first president to embrace the power and ability of new media during his presidency, I believe President Obama may be the first president to adopt an overall strategy of intelligence increase for the nation. Beyond partisan issues, he seems to favor intelligence as the yardstick for his decisions.

So what would the job of the Secretary of Intelligence Augmentation be?

• Massive educational reform - this means an overhaul of the current schooling methods in nearly all US public education systems. Irrefutable scientific evidence now shows that our method of educating in most public schools causes brain damage. Not to mention the endless input from renowned teachers such as John Taylor Gatto who have been tirelessly campaigning to revolutionize our outdated and outmoded schooling styles.
• Designing and implementing a massive campaign to teach people how to use their brains - the current level of neurological savvy in the US is frighteningly unsavvy. People need to be taught how to use themselves well and intelligence needs major PR. Intelligence is Sexy!

To me, these are the two big topics. Everything else can be accounted for underneath their umbrella. Attention to these (augmenting intelligence in everyone, and special attention to teaching children the right way to use their brains from the outset) can only lead to greater intelligence and easier accomplishment of all our other goals - as individuals, as a country and as a species.
